Mini Zombie Survival Guide

How well prepared are you in the event of a zombie apocalypse, or are you even ready for this type of emergency? There are several things one can do to prepare for themselves from the walking dead. This is list of three methods to construct your arsenal, physically and mentally against zombies. First you must know how zombies function and work. Second you must know basic survival skills including the following: how to create a fire, hunting, gathering of supplies, and communication. Lastly, you must know how to defend your own house from the inside and outside.

Zombies, according to neuroscientist  Bradley Voytek, suffer from various forms of mental diseases. All of this theories are observed from various zombie films including the following: 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, and The Return of the Living Dead. These mental illnesses include the following: amnesia, poor motor skills, and Capgras delusions. If you're being chased by a zombie you can hide in a certain location until they forget since they have amnesia. You can also run them over since they have poor motor skills. Lastly, you can throw and object at them to distract them or pretend to be a zombie for they suffer from Capgras delusions. All these imperfections come from their main illness, CDHD, Consciousness, Deficit, Hypoactivity Disorder.

Basic survival skills shall be important for one's survival in case of an emergency. Imagine if there were no firefighters, paramedics, or policemen. The world becomes more and more erratic as time progresses, so you must be ready for such events. Creating or purchasing an emergency kit is an important step in case of an apocalypse. Preparing an escape route and setting up two meeting points; one close and another out of town is recommended. Also try to savor as many of non-perishable foods as possible such as canned food. Weapons such as pistols, rifles, silencers for both pistols and rifles, 250 shells for each gun, and swords.

Home defense is important for survival , if you plan on staying home or even if you do move. Max Brooks states that the best place to hide in case of a zombie apocalypse is your very own home. Why, because you know were everything is at and it's more safer than an unknown city. These exceptions include the following: tornado proof houses and stilted houses. Modifications to your home may include the following; remove burglary alarm, iron gate, ten-foot chain link fence, and ten foot concrete wall. The concrete and chain link fence can only handle a class two outbreak. Brooks argues with reason that apartments might be better than a home. Reasons why apartments are better than homes include the following: more people, less reach from zombies, and depending on what level you live on, zombies can't get you and you can go from roof to roof in search for supplies.

Be prepared to take on zombies in several ways. Have your weapons with or by you at all times including sleep time. If you can rally a group of people trustworthy, but beware of the conflicts that are sure to come ahead. Have someone patrol at night  and  when you're on the move. Don't stay in one place for too long especially the high way. Try to find a clean water supply that's not inhibited by zombies due to high risk of infection. Use your head wisely and think before you talk or act. Don't make noise as it attracts zombies and be careful.

Literature Analysis

1. Dennis Cooverman, a newly graduate from Buffalo Grove High School, declares his love for Beth Cooper in his unexpected and embarrassing graduation speech. During his speech he points out all of his bullies and upsets various students except Beth Cooper. Dennis has been in love with Beth Cooper since he sat behind her in junior high. After his speech, Beth informs Dennis that she thought it was sweet. After her confession Dennis sums the courage to ask her to assist his party. Rich, Dennis's best friend, tells him to stay calm and collected when or if Beth shows up to the party. Beth shows up along with her friends Cammy and Treece. They mess around and Beth's boyfriend, Kevin an off duty army soilder, comes uninvited to turn the party upside down. He chases Dennis and Rich upstairs, until they decide to jump out of the window. As they escape and reunite with Beth and her friends, Dennis sees that Beth is not the perfect girl he had thought about for so long.  The gang head to Old Tobacco Road, where they encounter Dennis's parents having coitus. Then the group assist Valli Wooly's, a shallow rich girl, party. Kevin encounters Dennis once more and beats him up a bit until Beth crashes Kevin's Humvee into the house itself and the group escapes. Beth decides to go their high school and shower nakedly next to each other. Once again, Kevin and his gang show up to ruin Dennis's chances to get with Beth. As they close up on Dennis and Rich, Rich shows his wet towel skills and whips Kevin and his crews ass. Dennis and Beth's group escape to Treece's father's cabin where they all drink some beer. Cammy and Treece get funky with Rich if you know what I mean. Beth and Dennis almost do it before Kevin shows up again and tortures Dennis while Cammy calls the cops. Rich distracts Kevin with a rifle inside of Treece's cabin; this buys Dennis time to swim into the lake. The police show up and arrest Kevin and his group, while the other cop drops off Dennis and Beth. Dennis' dad tells him that it was worth it.

 2. This book has one theme that has various forms. Be careful for what you wish for. Don't judge a book by its cover. Everything is not as it seems. Those are the themes that come to mind when I finished reading this book.

3. The thing that got my attention towards this book was the movie. Although I didn't watch the whole movie, it seemed funny and realistic. The reason I kept reading this book was because it was very funny.

4. Yes I did find this book realistic because I was in this situation for some time. I thought this girl was nice and kind based on her looks; turns out she was very crude and had a low self esteem.

5. Rich is always quoting famous actors when he speaks. Sorry, but his quotes don't come to mind, but this is an example of allusion.  The theme would have to be comedy, heart, and romance. Romance: Dennis is in love with Beth Cooper. Comedy: Dennis is constantly in pain or embarrassing situations. Heart: Dennis finally realizes that Beth isn't the one for him and takes it like a man.

6. The author describes Dennis as a skinny, weak, sweaty, and nerdy. That's direct characterization.
Beth is seen as perfect in Dennis' eyes, but as the story progresses the author depicts Beth as a slut in a way.  Lasting impressions of Dennis and Beth is that not to judge someone by their looks instead by their actions.

7.The protagonist is dynamic but starts out static for some time until almost the end. Dennis went from being skinny, short, and nerdy to being thicker, taller and less nerdy.

8.   Met a person that I know.

The Science of Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

In Angela Watercutter's, article How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse Using Science, she states that science save your life in a zombie apocalypse. The author supports her claim by research conducted by, Bradley Voytek,  a neuron scientist from UC Berkley. Conclusions based on cognitive problems observed on films including the following: Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later, and The Return of the Living Dead. Next Angela proceeds to state that zombies suffer from various mental deficiencies. This mental deficiencies include the following: poor motor skills, amnesia, and capgras delusions. "Over time we started talking about what the zombie brain would have to look like given their observable behaviors in films."

Task One Survival Basics

In Maggie Silver's article entitled "Teachable Moments-Courtesy of The Walking Dead on AMC, she states we need to make a first aid kit in case of a zombie apocalypse. The author supports her idea in three ways. First, you should have plenty of gas to travel through cities filled with zombies. Silver says, "Siphoning gas... with your mouth? Gross." The author then proceeds to demonstrate how important it is to have a first aid kit near you whether if you're at home, work, and in the car."We're assuming that you aren't on the freeway scavenging for supplies on the highway", says silver, "but always have a kit on deck." Lastly, the author states that clean water is zombie free water. Contaminated water is a major concern for health and survival. additional methods Additional methods for healthier water are the following; boiling, adding disinfectants, or filtering."Zombie down the well?" "You might want to find a new water source", suggests Silver.

Chapter 10

Text: From his left hand dangled Piggy's broken specs.

Respond: I predict that Jack stole Piggy's broken specs to create a fire. Jack is only good at hunting that's why he had to steal them.

Text: Desperately, Ralph prayed that the beast would prefer littluns.

Respond: This shows how Ralph is losing his sanity. Again, we see this as portrayed by Golding; in which he states that everybody has evil within them.

Question: Did Ralph or Eric realize that they fought each other?
Question: Did Ralph have a seizure.

Respond: I predict that Simon is the Lord of the Flies. He has a conversation with the beast but doesn't talk to it.
